Bradford Man Charged With Terrorism Offences

A 25-year-old man from Bradford has appeared before Westminster Magistrates Court this afternoon (Tuesday, March 1) charged with nine offences under the Terrorism Act.

Mohammed Owais SABIR (21/08/1996) of Mansfield Road, Bradford is charged with the following:

  • Five offences contrary to Section 17 of the Terrorism Act 2000 (Entering funding arrangements)
  • One offence contrary to Section 15(1) of the Terrorism Act 2000 (Fundraising)
  • Three offences contrary to Section 57 of the Terrorism Act 2000 (Possession for terrorist purposes)

The man has been remanded in custody and will next appear at the Central Criminal Court on Monday, March 14.

SABIR was first arrested by officers in Bradford in September 2021 and was further arrested on Tuesday, February 22. A warrant of further detention was granted on Wednesday, February 23, and the man was charged with nine offences yesterday evening (Monday, February 28).

The investigation is led by Counter Terrorism Policing North East and supported by West Yorkshire Police.
