This is a PC/DC role within the Intelligence Development Team within ERSOU-CTP. Given the nature of the CT effort there may be a requirement to travel throughout the Eastern Region based on operational needs. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated person looking to develop their career, and work within the Counter Terrorism environment. The main responsibilities of the role will be to gather and develop CT intelligence from around the Eastern region and liaise with other agencies regarding information on terrorism and security issues. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are competent in the substantive rank and be fully fit without restrictions and be up to date with unarmed defence tactic training. Applicants must be an authorised police driver (any level) with a full UK driving licence. The post holder will be required to join the ERSOU CTP on-call rota in due course.
Main Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the role will be to gather and develop intelligence from around the Eastern region
and liaise with the Security Service and other agencies regarding information on terrorism and security issues. To achieve this, they will be required to maintain strong links with the Security Service, SO15, the National Domestic Extremism Unit and other National Agencies, being a contact point for such agency tasking. The post holder must also liaise with external partners who have an interest in national security matters including other Police Services where necessary.
The Post holder will promote the national Counter Terrorism strategy (CONTEST) within the Eastern region and support the delivery of objectives at force and regional level. The Post holder will also undertake such other reasonable duties as may be required from time to time. They will on occasions be called upon to support the investigation of all suspected terrorist incidents and individuals who come to notice as suspected of being involved in terrorism. This includes dealing with prisoners and completing files when applicable.
