Information about the role

The role of Counter Terrorism Security Adviser (CTSAs) is to deliver counter terrorism protective security advice and awareness training to Crowded Places, Hazardous Sites, Critical National Infrastructure and deliver personal security advice to individuals.

Responsibilities 

  • Conduct counter terrorism security surveys to national standards of relevant sites and sectors, and provide specialist advice in recommending and influencing the implementation of holistic, appropriate and proportionate measures to reduce their vulnerability to and the impact of a terrorist attack.
  • Identify and assess local critical sites that may be vulnerable to terrorist or extremist attack and, ensure that holistic, appropriate and proportionate measures have been recommended to site owners/operators to mitigate any such risk.
  • Ensure that site owners/operators comply with statutory obligations outlined in the Anti-Terrorism Crime and Security Act 2001 regarding the security of designated pathogens & toxins, through inspections and surveys.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to influence a reduction in a location’s vulnerability to a terrorist attack
  • Assist CTSA Manager in providing specialist advice to operational commanders regarding local or specific vulnerabilities in the event of an increase in the UK threat levels and/or a confirmed or suspected terrorist incident.
