Applications are invited from substantive Detective Superintendents to lead the eastern region’s counter terrorism command, Eastern Region Special Operations Unit – Counter Terrorism Policing (ERSOU – CTP). As part of the ERSOU Senior Leadership Team you will report to the Detective Chief Superintendent ERSOU CTP & ROCU. To enable an effective hand-over of role the successful applicant is sought from min-January 2020.

In this role you will lead, coordinate and facilitate all aspects of counter terrorism capability and capacity within the eastern region as part of the national counter terrorism infrastructure.
You will provide visible leadership across six counties and create the environment that enables all our staff to work together to keep people safe. You will lead the coordination and management of operational, partnership and intelligence aspects of tackling terrorism and domestic extremism, and develop the Prevent, Prepare, Protect and Pursue strands of the government’s CONTEST strategy.
You may be required to travel for business purposes on occasion and demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours.
Building upon any previous exposure to counter terrorism policing you will draw upon your experience of serious crime investigation, intelligence, operations and safeguarding to equip you to lead and develop our regional counter terrorism capability. The role will see you work closely with the counter-terrorism network and intelligence agencies across the UK.
