Digital Media Assessment Management

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic manager to lead a team of Digital Media Assessment (DMA) Officers to progress Counter Terrorism (CT) investigations.  The successful applicant will report to Head of Forensics and have line management responsibilities.

The Digital Media Assessment Team is a busy unit involved in identifying evidential material and various ideologies from a wide range of Digital Devices, Multimedia and CCTV.  This work underpins the objectives of many of the investigations within CTPSE and the DMA team is therefore a key department within the Investigations capability.

The post holder should therefore have a good understanding of the types of digital data available on devices such as mobile phones and computers as well as the proven ability to manage busy workloads with competing demands as well as experience of presenting at briefings.

As the manager, your role will be to prioritise the activities of the DMA Team to ensure an effective and efficient service is provided by CTPSE and be responsible for prioritising investigational requests from internal, regional and other agencies.  You will have direct line manager responsibilities for DMA officers and also provide additional direction, advice and support to other staff, officers and linguists from within CTPSE and other agencies.

As a direct consequence of the media assessed by you and your team, you will be briefing Senior Investigating Officers and Investigation teams in relation to your findings and the potential benefits to CT Investigations. This includes the ability to provide role-based advice to deploy the correct resources to achieve operational requirements.

In strategic terms you will develop SOPS and engage with national projects regarding technology and infrastructure aligned to national strategic objectives, all of which significantly underpins CT Investigations.

Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will require to pass a psychological assessment due to the nature of some of the material encountered.

This post involves occasional travel across the South East region and the UK and a full UK driving licence is required.
