Head of Analysis - Research & Analysis | Counter Terrorism Policing

Head of Analysis – Research & Analysis

The unit currently has an exciting opportunity for a temporary Head of Analysis position, acting as maternity cover for a period of up to 12 months. Working to the Head of Intelligence, you will be responsible for setting strategic direction for a busy department of analysts and researchers, leading on both intelligence and performance analysis, and representing the region at a series of senior management and national meetings. The role can be diverse and challenging so it is essential that the successful candidate is highly motivated, organised and has a positive, flexible, approach to working whilst maintaining discretion within a confidential environment. The position will be primarily office-based, with some agile home working supported.

Due to the nature of operational policing there could be a need for staff to work additional hours from time to time. The post is based in central Hertfordshire but on occasion the post holder will also be required to travel outside of the region to attend meetings and training. As such possession of a valid UK driving licence would be an advantage. These additional working and travel requirements may be negotiable and will be reimbursed in line with Force Policy. The successful candidate will be employed by Bedfordshire Police.

Due to the sensitivities of the role all applicants are asked to maintain discretion about their application. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Enhanced Security Clearance vetting prior to taking up the post, leading to Developed Vetting once in post. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined. A current security clearance is highly desirable.

If you wish to speak to a member of the unit to discuss this role in more detail please email Head of Analysis Jenny Williams at jenny.williams@beds.police.uk

Your application type for this position will depend on your current circumstances:

  • External applicants should apply under a fixed term contract
  • Police applicants from outside BCH may apply as a secondment opportunity OR a fixed term contract
  • Internal BCH applicants should apply as a career development opportunity

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria) and Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) or Development Vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks. Due to the sensitive nature of these checks, we are not able to supply feedback should clearance be declined.
