Contract type – Full Time, Permanent

Location – London

Band – Band D

Information about the Role

To protect the UK, Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) needs the support of an expert team behind the scenes. As a Health and safety/estates manager, you’ll be part of this team, dealing with a variety of building-related issues.

You’ll help CTP to perform at its best by making sure our buildings are safe and well-managed. Responsible for all building-related issues, from locker audits to occupancy monitoring, you’ll be a point of contact for Met Property Services.

You could be dealing with everything from accommodation moves to decommissioning and a whole range of other issues. Whatever the task, you’ll uphold compliance, policies, service level agreements (SLAs) and high corporate standards.

Your work will bring you into contact with a range of people, so you must be comfortable interacting and negotiating with all kinds of stakeholders. It’s particularly important that you can represent the views and position of Special Operations (SO) and CTP HQ, for example, when discussing the Met Estates Strategy and Asset Management plan.

To join us, you’ll need a background in facilities and resource management (or similar). Thanks to this experience, you’ll have a firm grasp of business support service provision; health and safety (H&S) legislation; and building-related services. You will also have the ability to prioritise, manage expectations, generate solutions and project personal credibility. It’s all about guiding business decisions, managing H&S in the workplace and delivering improvements.

In return for your efforts, you can expect a rewarding role, a competitive salary, a Civil Service pension and excellent career development.

Responsibilities

The post holder will be required to do the following:

  • escalate issues and concerns to the local support services (LSS) senior leadership team (SLT) and appropriate service provider(s)
  • represent the views and position of SO and CTP HQ on issues such as Met Estates Strategy and Asset Management plan on behalf of SO and CTP HQ
  • support resource and LSS actions emerging from individual SO and CTP HQ H&S meetings that have an impact on LSS
  • articulate SO and CTP HQ requirements in relation to the delivery of Property Services strategic plans – for example, corporate real estate (CRE), to elicit best practice in the use of accommodation and resources
  • use management information across the SO and CTP HQ to support building and resource management activities and support or re-negotiate recommendations as appropriate.
  • assist the LSS SLT in the provision of SO and CTP HQ support relating to compliance with corporate standards, service level agreements, policies and procedures for accommodation and buildings/resource management
  • act as a point of contact with Met Property Services for all building related issues (i.e. accommodation moves and changes, locker audits, occupancy monitoring etc)
  • Responsible for building/accommodation moves and changes, occupancy, decommissioning, decanting and general building related matters
  • Review CTP HQ H&S policy statement and appropriate CTP HQ H&S arrangements.
