Location – Birmingham

Band – Band N

Salary – £48,355 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £52,730. Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Every day, Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) relies on a wide variety of technology to do its job, protecting the nation. This tech is vital – which is why your role as a Junior Software Developer will be so important. Joining a newly created team, you’ll help to transform the way in which we deliver technical solutions to operational policing. With your skills and knowledge, we can help CTP to keep the country safe.

As part of a new team of Software Engineers, you’ll provide technical support and expertise to CTP, designing and creating bespoke software and integrating external solutions to support operations and strategic work. You’ll work flexibly from home or one of our easily accessible offices in Birmingham or London, helping to build a world-class development function.

Day to day, you’ll tackle longer-term projects and the integration of new infrastructure or applications. You’ll also work on the tactical development of scripts and hardware exploits, as well as analysing new devices and technologies. With your strong self-motivation, you’ll ensure that the various environments are well architected and documented.

Responsibilities

The post holder will be required to do the following:

  • Engage in longer term projects as required.
  • Integration of new services, infrastructure, or applications
  • Tactical development of scripts/solutions
  • Tactical development of hardware exploits
  • Analysis of new and emerging technologies, devices, and user habits
  • Analyse information, apply professional judgement and provide opinion, with rationale.
  • Keep abreast and up to date with relevant current affairs issues, technologies and subject matter requirements as required.
