Police Constable/Detective Constable – Border Officers & part time vacancy

Counter Terrorism Border Policing (CTBP) officers are at the front line of protecting national security from the threats posed by Terrorism and Serious and Organised Crime at the borders and ports of Surrey and Sussex. On occasion officers are also deployed to support our colleagues across the CTP SE region.

Borders officers are tasked to manage the known and unknown threats posed by individuals and groups seeking to travel across borders in furtherance of terrorism and serious organised crime. The role is intrinsic to the UK Counter Terrorism Strategy and supporting the British Intelligence Services in mitigating the threat to UK interests at home and abroad.

As part of the Borders Policing Team, your responsibilities will include to;

  • Undertake examination of persons using Schedule 7 Terrorism Act 2000.
  • Gather quality intelligence both in relation to Terrorism, extremism and serious and organised crime and disseminate intelligence to partner agencies to enable the process of further investigation.
  • Detect and seize cash from persons involved or suspected to be involved in terrorism or criminal activity
  • Proactively police the UK border in partnership with UK Border Force, NCA and Gatwick Police

 

The posts are open to all Constables who are willing and able to undertake an accreditation process including a pass or fail exam. The successful applicant will possess strong interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with a wide range of partner agencies and members of the travelling public. You will work within an international airport and deal with persons from all over the world. You will also have effective report writing skills, self-motivation and good investigative and interviewing skills.
