The Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) network stretches across the UK. We work alongside our partners to help protect the public and our national security by preventing, deterring and investigating terrorist activity.

Our Business Services department supports the delivery of CT policing across the wider West Midlands region through our People, Places and Finance teams.

As our Workplace Services Lead, you’ll be working at the heart of the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit managing administrative support across a range of services including facilities management, corporate travel, fleet management, business continuity, health and safety, and meeting and conference services. You’ll be supported by approximately 15 team members, including technical staff, to ensure the Places Team deliver an efficient and effective service.

You’ll be based at our modern offices near to Birmingham Airport, but you’ll travel to a number of sites across our estate as necessary. You’ll work 36.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday, with a range of flexible working patterns available ranging between 7am until 6pm, but an element of flexibility is needed to meet business needs.

Due to the nature of the role, you’ll be required to participate in an out-of-hours on-call roster (approximately one week in five) for which an additional on-call allowance is paid (approximately £225 per week whilst on call). You’ll also need a full driving licence and be willing to undertake a police proficiency driving evaluation as you’ll be driving police vehicles to various sites in and around Birmingham.

As well as competitive pay, we offer fantastic benefits, generous leave entitlement starting at 28 days a year, a great pension and excellent training giving you options to grow and progress with us.

The role

No two days are the same for your team – they’ll be undertaking a wide range of tasks from managing travel and meeting room bookings, processing requests for goods and services, catering, and vehicle reservations as well as undertaking health and safety duties and working as part of a team to provide a proactive and reactive facilities management service. You’ll use your previous knowledge and experience of supervisory management to lead, develop and drive the Places team to ensure compliance with Key Performance Indicators and statutory requirements (such as building maintenance and health & safety regulations).

You’ll regularly review and update policies, and draft new policies to ensure the service your team delivers keeps pace with changing working practices and new technology. Above all, you’ll plan and manage service delivery to ensure efficiency and value for money whilst promoting a culture of customer focused service delivery across the team
