Middlesbrough Man Further Charged With Explosives Offence

A 21 year old man from Middlesbrough appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court this morning on terrorism charges following an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing North East, supported by Cleveland Police.

During the hearing, Anwar Driouich (09/09/97) of The Avenue, Middlesbrough was further charged with an offence of Making or possessing explosives under suspicious circumstances, contrary to Section 4 of the Explosives Act 1883.

Driouich had already been charged with seven counts of Possessing a document or record likely to be useful to a person preparing or committing an act of terrorism, contrary to Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000, following his arrest in North London on Saturday, August 31.

He has been remanded in custody until his next appearance at the Old Bailey on October 4, 2019.

A 21 year old man from Middlesbrough has been charged this evening, following an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing North East, supported by Cleveland Police.

He has been charged with possessing a document or record likely to be useful to a person preparing or committing an act of terrorism.

The charges follow his arrest in North London last Saturday (August 31). He will appear before Westminster Magistrates Court tomorrow morning, Saturday September 7.
