A 14-year-old from Darlington appeared before Westminster Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon (Tuesday January 18) charged with possessing a terrorist publication.

He was arrested in July last year as part of a pre-planned, intelligence led investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing North East.

The teenager pleaded guilty to three offences contrary to Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000; possession of a record of information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

The case has now been adjourned for sentencing on April 1, 2022.
