Information about the Role
Heads of Profession are responsible for co-ordinating the network’s capability development; improving standards through long-term planning, policy development and ongoing support and assurance. This ensures that operational delivery is continuously improved in line with wider strategic direction. The responsibilities of the Head of Profession span leadership and governance, strategy and change, policy, performance, organisational learning, compliance and assurance, finance and HR, technology development and communications. The Head of Profession model is an evolution from the previous Capability lead model, with the new model orientated around a much smaller number of fully dedicated HQ leads responsible for clusters of linked capabilities.
In addition to the universal responsibilities of each Head of Profession, specific unique operational or coordination functions may fall under the remit of this role.
In line with the CTP National Strategy the role must influence the business to deliver on the CTP mission to apply our network of specialist police capabilities proportionately, alongside UK police forces and partners, to protect the UK and the public from terrorism and other national security threats. This strategic influence must be underpinned by our primary CT mission, growing CST mission and our established Protecting Democracy mission
