Summary
Zayan Lorgat (05/05/2006) was sentenced to 27 months’ imprisonment on Wednesday, August 26 at Leicester Crown Court after pleading guilty to four counts of disseminating a terrorist publication on the grounds of recklessness, contrary to Section 2(1)(c) of the Terrorism Act 2006.
The 20-year-old was arrested in October 2024 from his home address on Grantham Road, Leicester as part of a pre-planned, intelligence led operation by Counter Terrorism Policing North East, supported by Counter Terrorism Policing East Midlands and Leicestershire Police.
During a search of his house, officers seized his digital devices. When they were examined, they revealed that he had shared racist, neo-nazi and antisemitic videos and images on several Telegram chats. The terrorist material he shared included several graphic videos of Extreme Right Wing terrorist attacks.
Lorgat was also given a 12-month extended licence period on his release, and a deprivation order was made for his digital devices.
