Information about the role
We welcome applications for an Operational Support role in our Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) Police Operations Room (CTPOR). In this exciting role, you will provide direct support to surveillance operations carried out by CTPSE.
Day to day responsibilities will see you supporting the administration of the CTPOR through the submission of surveillance product and maintenance of processes. Undertaking the role of Surveillance Monitor (SvM) primarily at CTPSE, you will use knowledge, training and judgement to make valued recommendations on possible risks.
The role will require you to maintain clear and concise radio communications with operational surveillance teams, acting as the conduit for information sharing between them and the Tactical Controller in the CTPOR. You will be required to monitor observation posts and document the deployment.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for officers who have excellent communication skills, the ability to work under pressure and provide accurate and timely information in a fast paced operational environment. It would be useful to have working knowledge of an operational/surveillance (environment) as well as exposure to the National Surveillance Glossary, however this is not essential.
It is important to note that the role of Surveillance Monitor (SVM) within the CTPOR requires a huge amount of flexibility around working hours / shift duration and involves very frequent short notice changes.
