Information about the role

We are seeking applications from substantive Detective Chief Inspectors, or Detective Inspectors who have successfully passed their board and are currently in a promotion pool, for the role of Detective Chief Inspector – Head of SERPIT (South East Regional Prison Intelligence Team).

SERPIT operates across SEROCU and Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE), exploiting intelligence from the prison estate and other relevant institutions to identify, assess and disrupt individuals who pose the highest threat and risk to national security. This includes subjects linked to counter‑terrorism and serious and organised crime. The team also holds responsibility for investigating the most serious and sensitive corruption matters within the service.

As DCI Head of SERPIT, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for this specialist, high‑impact function. You will lead and coordinate serious and organised crime and counter‑terrorism intelligence activity on behalf of five forces, overseeing intelligence collection and directing investigative and operational activity in complex and sensitive environments. The role requires confident decision‑making, strong partnership working, and the ability to lead and inspire a specialist team operating at the highest level of risk and scrutiny.
