Information about the role

You’ll be responsible for the collation and dissemination of evidence and intelligence in support of national security and criminal investigations, working in partnership with key stakeholders and the diverse and transient community within Birmingham and other regional aviation sites.

Utilising a range of legislation alongside warranted police powers, including Schedule 7 and 8 of Terrorism Act 2000, Schedule 3 Counter Terrorism and Borders Security Act 2018 and Schedule 1 of The Counter Terrorism Security Act 2015, you’ll identify, examine and report on individuals and freight.

You’ll need to pass a National Borders Procedures Course in order to become a fully accredited officer. As an accredited professional, you’ll be expected to proactively generate intelligence and to hold and maintain a high level of geo-political awareness.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Examining persons and freight travelling through regional airports using various police powers.
  • Completing proactive and re-active examinations in accordance with local and national priorities and policies, responding to local, regional and national intelligence requirements and gaps.
  • Preparing concise intelligence reports and demonstrating a clear understanding of protocols in accordance with the policies and procedures relating to the handling and dissemination of sensitive intelligence.
  • Evaluating and developing intelligence obtained in order to maximise its value.
  • Submitting high level intelligence within agreed timescales, demonstrating flexibility where required.
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of local, regional, national and international current affairs and maintaining an understanding of the potential impact upon the diverse communities within the UK.
  • Actively working in partnership with local communities and partners to understand the diverse needs of the travelling public in order to maximise the flow of information and intelligence.
