Information about the role
As a Prevent Case Officer, you’ll reassure and manage the safety and protection of those most susceptible of being drawn into terrorism.
You’ll identify and safeguard the most susceptible by dynamically assessing the level of risk and determining appropriate safeguarding intervention(s), including remedies available through the criminal and civil courts, as well as support available from other partner organisations.
You’ll drive and deliver the Prevent agenda across the wider policing family, facilitating engagement between policing teams, partner organisations and communities.The role has a strong focus on partnership working and you’ll attend and contribute at multi agency strategy discussions to determine if children are at significant risk of harm and assist in the preparation and delivery of effective multi-agency safety plans, as well as professional’s meetings for vulnerable adults.
You’ll hold responsibility for case management enquiries, conducting vulnerability assessments, delivering case management tactics, as well as conducting sensitive briefings and attending Prevent meetings internally and externally.
We work in partnership to safeguard people following their referral into Prevent, until the conclusion of intervention work, which can include the Channel multi-agency programme, which aims to divert those who are susceptibility to being drawn into terrorism. For the most vulnerable, which includes those with mental ill-health and complex needs, intervention plans are developed though our Clinical Consultancy Service.
You’ll have the skills and motivation to be part of an evolving, dedicated team serving diverse communities. Prior experience of safeguarding procedures is therefore being sought & would be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, making agency referrals, including adult MASH / MARF where appropriate and criming any identified offences.
- Assessing Prevent relevance risk for referred cases.
- Preparing for, attending and actively contributing to meetings, case conferences & strategy discussions.
- Conducting risk-based visits with individuals identified to have ‘Prevent Relevance’, either as a single agency or jointly with partners.
- Working collaboratively with Prevent partners in local authorities.
- Contributing to neighbourhood mapping within the CT context to help local policing colleagues understand the complex nature of the community and ensure that Prevent activity is complimenting other CT activity.
- Gathering and disseminating intelligence including community tensions relating to CT issues, developing plans and identifying joint actions to address any issues.
- Delivering briefings to local policing and partner agencies
- Providing tactical advice to CT investigators on Prevent options and capability, maintaining responsibility for Prevent Case Management enquiries.
- Engaging and signposting individuals vulnerable to radicalisation into appropriate support mechanisms, such as Channel.
- Identifying community intervention providers who can provide advice and support to individuals vulnerable to radicalisation.
