Information about the Role

The primary focus of the Senior Training Officer role will be to deliver a variety of IT end-user training to CTP users nationally.

This role will be required to deliver, plan, design and prepare a range of comprehensive IT end-user training courses with detailed supporting training materials.  The role will report to and work closely with the Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters (CTPHQ) Technology Pillar ICT Training Manager (Band M).

When required, this role is also required to provide interoperable support to colleagues in the CTPHQ Technology Pillar Training Team focusing on technical and service support programmes specific to 100+ staff in the Customer Service Centre (CSC) (whether that be independently and/or in collaboration with technical subject matter experts or external training providers).

This role is not responsible for the line management of any staff, however, will be senior in knowledge, skills and experience to the CTPHQ Technology Pillar Training Officer/s.

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence on a regular basis.  Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post.

Responsibilities

The post holder will be required to do the following:

  • Lead on design and development of bespoke training courses (to national CTP standards), including lesson plans, exercise workbooks, PowerPoint presentations, support guides etc. (independently and/or in collaboration with subject matter experts).
  • Lead on scheduling and delivering training, where required, to agreed end-user groups/technical support staff using classroom, one-to-one, coaching, remote training etc. in accordance with approved training approach.
  • Lead on collaboration with stakeholders (Technology Pillar Support Teams, CSC, project, testers, developers, business, national/regional training function) to understand their technical training requirements and the technology to be implemented.
  • Assist with ICT Training Manager with the development of learning strategies for ICT Projects, outlining plans, resources, deliverables, assumptions and risks.
  • Assist the ICT Training Manager in conducting training needs analyses, skills gap analyses, and produce training delivery strategy, training evaluations documentation and lessons learned conclusions.
  • Adhere to the Technology Pillar Training Team’s strategy and engagement processes.
  • Represent the team and ICT Training Manager at meetings and Working Groups, when required, to report on progress, obtain sign off on documentation and confirm decisions and deliverables. Provide updates to the ICT Training Manager on progress, risks, issues and successes.
  • Responsible for the programme supervision, discipline and welfare of students whilst they are on the course and to provide the necessary support and encouragement required for them and their mentors in the workplace.
  • Shared responsibility with other training team colleagues to keep Technology Pillar training records and skills matrix up to date and identify and submit bi-annual and ad-hoc external training requirements for the department.
  • Any other activities that contribute to the successful delivery of IT training in the CTPHQ Technology Pillar.
