Information about the Role
Counter Terrorism Policing is a collaboration of UK police forces working with security and intelligence agencies to help keep people safe and our national security by preventing, deterring and investigating terrorist activity. We do this by partnering locally and globally – from neighbourhood policing teams supported by a national network of specialists to our investigators and expert advisors in every corner of the world.
At the centre of the network sits the Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters (CTPHQ), which devises policy and strategy; coordinates national projects and programmes; and advises the government on Counter Terrorism (CT) issues. We work together with MI5 and other partners to disrupt attacks; prevent people getting drawn into all forms of terrorism and violent extremism; and increase the protection and security of the UK’s critical infrastructure, businesses and public places.
The team you’ll join
You will join a growing team that sits at the heart of the CTP network. The Data and Analysis Pillar was established in 2019 to transform CTP’s use of data. Our vision is that CTP becomes a data-centric organisation, with the right data exploitable by the whole network against any threat, utilising the best available capabilities, while maintaining legal compliance and public trust.
Our remit is broad: We are responsible for the leadership and professional development of CTP’s nationwide analytical community – we lead the production of data-driven intelligence and analytical products to inform CT investigations and operations. We lead engagement with industry and academia to exploit emerging science and technology and deliver innovative solutions to the CTP network. And we are creating a national data science capability – to help our regional operational and investigative teams tackle the trickiest data-related problems.
Working to the Head of HQ Analysis – Learning and Development Lead for CT Policing, the Training & Development Coordinator will provide crucial support to the L&D Team. You will assist with day-to-day activities and long-term projects that are necessary to ensure that analysts and researchers have access to training that equips them to deal with the volatile threat from terrorism. You will work closely with partner agencies and external training providers, both nationally and internationally, to ensure that the CTP network remains at the forefront of analytical training.
The team is passionate and enthusiastic about providing a learning and development programme that meets the needs of the Analyst & Researcher community across the network.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and facilitation of training events
You will manage a busy schedule of training events to ensure that the learning needs of the Analysis & Research Network are met. You will meticulously plan and oversee all aspects of course administration, planning and logistics to ensure that events run seamlessly for both trainers and delegates. This includes but is not limited to, advertising events, managing enquiries in a timely manner, booking suitable training locations, opening and closing training events, facilitating Q&A sessions and liaising with external training providers and delegates. - Line Management Responsibility for Band E – Learning & Development Training Administrator
You will maintain full oversight of the Learning & Development team’s administration function, ensuring administrative duties are carried out in a timely manner. - Coordination of the Learning & Development Working Group
You will be responsible for coordinating the Learning & Development Working Group and building effective working relationships with the Regional L&D SPOCs. You will produce high-quality meeting notes and ensure any follow-up actions are progressed.
