Our chart-topping podcast series, in which we lift the veil on the work of Counter Terrorism Policing and what we do, is back with new episodes landing today (Thursday, 12 March).
Inside Counter Terrorism Policing delves into the lives and careers of the incredible staff and officers working to protect the nation from terrorist and national security threats.
So much of what we do can’t be talked about publicly. But in season two, we’re going behind the scenes with men and women who work across Counter Terrorism Policing, from those working in EOD, and in hostile locations overseas, to the legal teams, intelligence officers, and people managing terrorists in the community.
They’ll talk about the careers that led them here – the good stuff and the bad – and share their advice about working in policing.
For some of the people featured in this series, it’s the first time they’ve spoken about their work. To make sure they can do so safely, their identities have been protected.
Series one ranked in the Top 20 UK True Crime podcasts on Apple and Spotify and made it into the top 5% of podcasts worldwide, according to industry data.
There will be five brand new episodes to listen to, with the first dropping today. A new episode will be available on Acast, Spotify and Apple every Thursday.
- Episode 1 Clara: From hostage negotiator to hostile environments
- Episode 2 Tom: from diffusing bombs in warzones to keeping the streets of London safe
- Episode 3 Jenna: what it’s like working with convicted terrorists in the community
- Episode 4 Grace: Thwarting attacks through online intelligence
- Episode 5 Alex: from city lawyer to national security incidents
In the first episode, Clara, one of our brilliant International CTP Liaison Officers who is based in a hostile location overseas, talks about pivoting from plans to be a dancer to becoming a police officer after being burgled.
Her roles have included working as a homicide detective and a hostage negotiator, and in her episode, she offers a powerful insight into what it’s like on difficult days in the job. Listeners will also hear about the importance of international relationships, the diplomacy required, and the ‘pinch herself’ moments like getting through check-points in Chinooks.
Podcast host Amy is also back and can’t wait to share all our new stories with listeners. She said: “After the success of the last series, we had to find some new and even more exciting stories to share with you and dig deeper into our investigations.
“This series we hear about the plots that have been disrupted, insight into some of the toughest decisions our people have to make, and the personal impact protecting national security can have.
“We’re so excited for you to hear from more of our incredible officers and staff for series two.”
