Man jailed for breaching conditions of release from prison

Ismael Watson, 35, has been jailed for two years and four months

A 35-year-old man has been jailed for breaching conditions of his release from prison after serving a sentence for terrorism offences.

Ismael Watson was arrested in London in September 2024 after failing to comply with his notification requirements which were in place when he was released after serving a five year sentence.

Watson had been convicted in 2017 for attempting to enter Syria to fight with Islamic State in 2016.As he attempted to cross the border from Turkey into Syria, he was detained by Turkish authorities and deported to the UK.

He pleaded guilty at a previous hearing to failing to give his home address or contact details for four separate mobile numbers to the authorities.

He has today been sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court to two years and four months.
